The Best of Newfoundland & Labrador

12 Day Escorted Tour with a Local Guide

On the most easterly edge of North America, where the sun rises first, where Vikings landed over 1,000 years ago – Newfoundland and Labrador is home to the oldest settlement and the oldest city in North America, but is the youngest province of Canada.

A vast land, with a relatively small population, Newfoundland and Labrador has some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. Here, you can immerse yourself in wilderness solitude one day and embrace a vibrant culture at the cutting edge of the contemporary western world the next.

This is a land of rich history and natural wonders: stunning coastlines, breaching whales, icebergs, and some of the most incredible skyscapes you'll ever see. With a temperate climate, Newfoundland and Labrador is a perfect place to enjoy outdoor adventures like hiking and kayaking in the late spring, summer and fall, as well as sports like snowboarding, skiing and snowmobiling in the winter.

From vibrant cities to quaint, historical outports, mountain ranges, rivers, waterfalls and winding coastlines, there are always fascinating places to see and countless things to do. Prepare yourself to be lost and found in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Our comprehensive tour is a complete immersion into the culture and daily life of this unique Canadian province. Its easy pace makes it enjoyable - its encounters make it unforgettable.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive on the West Coast of Newfoundland and transfer to Corner Brook, where you spend your first night on ‘The Rock’.

Day 2: Take the Viking trail to beautiful Gros Morne National Park. Travel along some of the most spectacular coastline in North America and visit the National Historic Park at Port au Choix, with intriguing history and lifestyle of the Maritime Archaic people who lived here over 3000 years ago.

Day 3: Travel the coastline to St. Anthony to visit the home of the famous medical missionary, Sir Wilfred Grenfell. The highlight of this day is the UNESCO World Heritage site at L'Anse aux Meadows, home of Lief the Lucky and the Viking people who settled this area as early as the year 1000 A.D.

Day 4: Keep a sharp eye out for whales as we cross the Straits of Belle Isle to the shores of Labrador. Visit the recently discovered Whaling Station founded by the Basques in the early 1500's and the tallest lighthouse in the province at L'Anse Amour.

Day 5: Return to ‘The Rock’ and continue along the rugged coastline stopping to visit 'The Arches' with unique and wonderful geological formations for which Newfoundland is so famous. Enjoy a traditional Newfoundland dinner.
