Adventures in Hong Kong

In June I spent a few days in Hong Kong. It was my first introduction to Asia, and coming from South Africa it was quite a culture shock.

I stayed at a hotel in Kowloon, within easy walking distance to Nathan Road - the main shopping area. I had never seen so many crowds of people, and the noise level and smell of all those different foods was a little overwhelming at first.

I visited Victoria Peak and the view from there is spectacular. The high rise buildings live up to their name and are constructed with bamboo scaffolding!! Tiger Balm Gardens is a small, colourful oasis in the midst of all these tall buildings, and Aberdeen Harbour sheds some light on the more traditional way of live of the boat people.

Hong Kong is a great city and I hope to return one day.
